Q:Hi there,I have signed a full athletic scholarship at Dodge City Community College in Kansas to begin in fall, and therefore require health insurance during my time in the US. I currently reside oustide of the USA, however was born in California and am a citizen and hold a valid American passport. This means I will not be applying for an international student visa, and so I am finding the health insurance difficult to finalise. I can see that my visa type is required as an international student, and as I will not be on a visa, I was hoping you could advise me on the best course of action to ensure I am properly insured before my departure.

A:
We unfortunately do not have student plans for a US citizen. if you need a plan you can go to the open market to purchase the same plans a US citizen can get.

Q:What is meant by coverage for pre-existing conditions. If my parent has heart problems and taking medication, how will coverage for pre-existing condition help? What about acute onset of pre-existing conditions? How do they differ?

A:
We have one plan that includes coverage for pre-existing conditions as long as the insured is not specifically traveling for the sake of receiving medical attention. the plan also does not cover for routine maintenance that is needed. its only for unexpected events. Pre-existing plan: /visitors-protect-insurance/ We also have plans for an Acute onset of a pre-existing condition. An "Acute Onset of a Pre-Existing Condition" is a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a Pre-Existing Condition(s) which occurs spontaneously and without advance warning either in the form of Physician recommendations or symptoms, is of short duration, is rapidly progressive, and requires immediate care. The Acute Onset of a Pre-Existing Condition must occur after the effective date of the policy. Treatment must be obtained within 24 hours of the sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence. A Pre-Existing Condition that is a chronic or congenital condition or that gradually becomes worse over time will not be considered Acute Onset. This benefit does not include coverage for known, scheduled, required, or expected medical care, drugs or Treatments existent or necessary prior to the Effective Date of coverage.
